Last November 30-december 1, UNIS had a human rights conference. Us UNIS kids had to facilitate it T_T After all, half of it WAS in our school. Kasi we were hosting people and using the school as a medium for “negotiation”. The topic was about Migration. It’s relevant sa Philippines kasi andaming OFW diba? There were Mexican kids and kids from the Dominican republic too, so they knew, as in KNEW about it. And there were also Canadians from canadia (if u hear them talk, you’ll start saying canadia too XD)
I’m glad I had Izza (my bff ditto na from Brunei) and Rhea (first friend sa UNIS, indian rin XD). May isang tao dito na kinaaasaran ko. Siya pa ung so=called president ng HUman Rights club T_T Her name is Diyala (who never stops bellydancing. Aka siya ung kalapating mababa ang lipad at nakakaasar talaga xa O_O remind u of anyone?)
The first day of the conf was in the school, we practially just ate and drafted a “resolution” which the UN would look at (daw). I was anti-social and skeptical of the whole thing. Honestly naman kasi, titignan ba nila talaga yan? O itatapon lang. Tapos lahat pa ng kasama ko, bitchy debaters who think their opinions are right and go on explaining shit no one wants to hear for 30 minutes. They are the future-politicians of our world.
And, it seemed that these people were concerned with the politics of migration, but no one was really (and I mean REALLY) concerned with the HUMANITY of people. Their rights were being violated, and everyone acknowledged that because after all, we were in a human rights conference, but no one, I think, really SAW the degree of evil. The kids there wanted to help, but only few only some of them had empathy/depth. A lot of other people were people who valued rhetoric and proving a point more (modern-day sophists/politicians. OMG this is SOOOOO philosophy!) After the conference though, (aka while waiting for it to be over) I hung out with dennis a bit because he hosted some girls and was waiting for them to g home. I met them properly the next day ^^;
When we went to the UN, we heard the people from the Videoconference and their opinions. It was cool to because you could see a whole room of people. Hahaha.
And the UN was ok. It bored me and made me want to shoot myself, but at least it made me realize that no way in hell would I ever be a politician.
I actually hosted people for the conference too (which practically covers my required community service hours!)The first person was a Bulgarian girl who lives in philly and the other was an iranian girl who lives in Canada. She says bauuug instead of bag. It was funny.T heyr nice ^^ but it was obvious I had nothing to do with them, no common interests, nothing really. And they were 2 years older than me too.. Oh well.
And after the conf, I got together with Yasmine, Zoe, Nick, Ben and Dennis (Chinese kid who constantly teases me because he is an asshole but a lovable one.) I needed to see them BADLY. The conference left me scarred. Honestly, I needed to BREATHE. I walked 3 avenues and 10 blocks in heels after walking around the whole day in HEELS, making my feet bleed (not literally) just to see them and chill. But it was worth it! And, I got paper stars in mornign glory adn a free shirt in UNIVERSE (comic book dude knows us na, frequent customers kami eh ;) )!
And I met Mo and Erin, the two adorable girls Dennis hosted. (Dennis could have hosted conventionally hot girls, but Mr Bassen made sure that he hosted the 2 girls who were like us, hot in a different way XD). Mo had green hair, erin loves animals, it was <3>
Anyway, we went back to my house, chilled, (dennis saw emil and was like, hook me up with weed. I was like, no dennis, bad! Not in my house XD) And then they went home. Yasmine stayed for a bit and drank a hec-load of tea with me. Then went home by 11 ^^;
Anyway, And so, that ends my human rights conference rant.
Excuse the grammar/spelling/shit because I am really not in the mood for ranting, but I had to purge this eveeeel feeling deep insiiiiide meee XD omg
O_O rant!
